- 2. To keep cookies that you’ve baked soft and fresh for longer, place them in a sealed container with a slice of bread. The bread will get hard, but the cookies will remain soft. Replace the slice of bread when it becomes hard.
3. Big sale on hamburg? Not sure you can use it all before it spoils? I cook most of the hamburg I buy when I bring it home, and store it in 1 lb containers in the freezer. You can keep it for twice as long as you can uncooked. Makes it easy when you want to make something like chop suey. Just thaw the hamburg in the microwave, and then add to your sauce to warm it.
4. Your recipe calls for 1/2 an onion, what are you supposed to do with the rest? Dice it up, put it into a plastic freezer bag, and freeze it for next time. You can also do this with peppers. I always have a couple of bags waiting in the freezer for that sauce I’m making, or to add to a meatloaf.
5. Meatloaf can be made and frozen ahead for no more than 30 days. After mixing your meatloaf however you prefer, put it into an aluminum loaf pan, and wrap tightly in aluminum foil. Then place into a gallon freezer bag. When ready to cook, unwrap the aluminum foil, and let thaw inside the freezer bag in your refrigerator overnight.Aluminum loaf pans
