Listing with variations on eBay not only makes listing a bit easier, but it saves you money on listing fees too.
Whenever you have an item that you have multiples of, but in different colors or styles, you can list in variations. There are a few categories that eBay doesn’t allow you to list in variations, but you can in most.
A good example is the Sizzle crochet thread that I have listed. I have many different colors of the same size crochet thread. When photographing them, I took a picture of all of them together, then I took individual photos.
A customer can now go to this one listing, and choose from a drop down menu which colors they want to purchase. the variation option also allows for you to put the quantities of each color, and to add different prices if the item warrants it.
Another area that I use variations a lot are shoes and clothing. I very often acquire several shoes of the same style, but different sizes and colors. Using the variation option allows me to put them all into one listing. It also makes it easier for the buyer to see if you have the item in the size they need, therefore possibly making a sale when you might not have otherwise.
The above slippers were listed as a variation because of the different sizes I have of them. The drop down menu allows the buyer to choose between S – M – L – XL. Four items for sale, one listing, one listing fee.
Each listing can have 5 variation details and up to 60 values for each of those details. For example, if you’re selling shoes, color, size, width, material, and style could be your 5 variation types. Each of those details can have up to 60 values: 60 different colors, 60 different sizes, and so forth. You can have up to 250 variations in a single listing for no additional fee.
Etsy is also a site that allows for you to list variations which comes in very handy with items like different colored threads, an assortment of knitting needle sizes, or multi-patterned fat quarters.
Your variation listings can be created and managed through the quick listing tool, the advance listing form, or Seller Hub.
