Murder at Mardi Gras

My sister-in-law Noreen and her husband Don recently hosted a Murder Mystery Party. We had a lot of fun!

First, the hostess sends out invitations to the party that also tells you what part you’ll be playing in this mystery. It also gives you costume suggestions for your character.

I was Alexis Dupre, the socialite daughter of the murder victim Pierre. A southern belle and reigning “Magnolia Queen”, my costume suggestion was a ball gown with a tiara and a sash.

My husband, Errol was to be my boyfriend Matthew. A boy from the bayou who had worked his way through law school. He was to wear a preppy college outfit mixed with a fisherman/outdoorsman outfit.

After all 6 guests had arrived, Noreen treated us all to a New Orleans dinner of Jambalaya. I had never had it before, and it was delicious!

After dinner was over, we all moved to the living room to begin the game. Basically, everyone has a part to play, and a play book to go by. You take turns saying your part, revealing clues, and sometimes just complaining about someone else! We all had a great time and lots of laughs playing this game!

I have to admit that I didn’t guess the right murderer. Could just be that I can’t imagine Don as a bad person, but his character, the family lawyer, turned out to be the murderer.

The whole evening was a great time! Can’t wait until we do it again!
