Slow Cooker Apple Crisp

What better dessert to make in the fall than Apple Crisp? Put it in the slow cooker, and your kitchen smells great!

For this you will need:

1-1/4 cups flour
3/4 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons butter, melted
6 medium apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch chunks
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Place the first flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl and stir to combine.

Pour in the melted butter and stir until the butter is completely mixed into the dry ingredients, and the mixture is wet and crumbly. Then set aside.

Line your slow cooker, and generously spray it with cooking spray.

In a mixing bowl, add the apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Stir to combine, then spread into an even layer into the slow cooker.

Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.

Place a large sheet of paper towels over the slow cooker, making sure it completely covers the top of the slow cooker. Do not allow it to sag down onto the crisp. Cover with the slow cooker lid. Set the slow cooker to high and cook for 1-1/2 hours, or on low for 2-1/2 to 3 hours.

(Because slow cookers cause moisture and steam, the crisp will be soggy. Placing the paper towels over the top will cause the moisture to go into the paper towel, and not drip back onto the crisp.)

Errol was pretty happy when he came home from work to this!
