Family Friday

Family Fridays – Alynna Meets Alexa

My 2-1/2 year old granddaughter Alynna, is developing quite the entertaining personality. She goes to daycare while her mom works, and they’ve been teaching her some lullabies and children songs, which she loves to sing and dance to. We realized that our Echo Dot would play some of the ones that she loves like Row, Row, Row Your Boat, and Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, but it wouldn’t play her favorite which is

Ari “Danger” Schultz Update

When last we talked about Ari, he had just gone home after a 189 day stay in Boston Children’s Hospital, after receiving a heart transplant. Ari had a fantastic month at home. He went to the ball field several times, played hoops at the old house, had lobster in Maine while visiting Grammy, and got to meet some golf greats at the U.S. Senior Open at the Salem Country Club.

Family Fridays – What to Wear

Getting dressed for school each day can be quite stressful. Making sure you have the right outfit for the day (no dresses on gym day), for the special occasion (on St. Patrick’s day you simply must wear green), or for the temperature (long sleeve or short, sneakers or sandals) can be a daunting task.

Family Fridays – It’s Just Not Working

I have had a weight problem for most of my life. I’m always working through new diets or exercises to try and lose any that I can. My family that live with me do not have this problem. Errol, Sam and Aya are slim and trim and tend to eat whatever they want. Aly will be as well, when she outgrows her baby fat.

Family Fridays – My Furry Felines

Where we live, there is a definite mouse issue. I like to bargain and coupon shop and I have a fully stocked pantry in the basement. This is like an invitation to all the mice in the neighborhood looking for a snack. My husband and I decided to solve the problem by getting a cat. Cat One I am a firm believer in helping the animal population, that is already here, and going to the shelter to give a forever home to somebody that needs it. We went to the local shelter and found Cricket, a gray tiger striped female.

Family Fridays – Ari "Danger" Schultz

Ari “Danger” Schultz is the 5 year old grandson of my husband’s cousin. Ari had his first of many heart surgeries while still in uteri, and had a heart transplant in March of this year. He went through rejection after the transplant, and even went into cardiac arrest, causing the doctor’s to place him into a chemically induced coma to allow his body to rest.

Family Fridays – Papa’s Birthday Cake

Aya is always entertaining us with the way she thinks. A couple of years ago when Aya was 4, on Errol’s birthday, our daughter Sam was planning to make him a birthday cake. Aya wanted to help. Sam told her that she was welcome to help, but that she had to keep it a secret from Papa, and Aya agreed.

Family Fridays – Meet the A’s

As I’ve mentioned, our daughter Sam and her two daughters live with us. These two little girls keep it pretty interesting around here. Ayanna Ryan, who likes to go by Aya, is a beautiful and precocious 6 year old. Her sister, Alynna Rae, who we call Aly, is 2 years old, and couldn’t be more different from her sister if she tried. Where Aya is

Family Fridays – Mouse in the House

Errol and I will have been married for 18 years this month. We each have 3 children from prior marriages, and now have been blessed with three beautiful granddaughters, two of which, along with our daughter Sam, live with us. There is never a dull moment around here. Between the five of us humans, four cats and Duncan the cocker spaniel, somebody is always up to something. I couldn’t sleep the other night. I got up at around 1:30 AM to do some work on the computer. Everyone else was asleep and it was very quiet, until it wasn’t. Suddenly two of the cats,
